Blogging has started since a while back, but most people started blogging when platforms like Google’s Blogger and the likes of WordPress became popular. I don’t have to start talking about what blogging means as the meaning differs from people to people and places. Most people will even ask what the difference between a blog and a website is, well that is a question for another day.
I want to take you through how to start a blog. However, it’s much easier to operate your blog by yourself as most people do. Meanwhile, some others prefer to hire web administrators to manage their blogs maybe due to their busy schedule.
Bloggers should be capable of starting a blog right from scratch, thank God that these days you don’t need much of HTML, Java, CSS, JQuery and Python programming to manage a blog. The popular platforms nowadays has made it very easy that you can create a blog or website with the drag of a mouse, jus Drag ‘N’ Drop and you are done.
Without wasting much time, we will start with making a blog on the Blogger platform. However, most people does think that Blogger sites often do well than other platforms i.e WordPress in terms of SEO, I can get to argue that fact because the Blogger platform is owned by Google and Google is the most popular search engine in the world. I will have to put in more into researching on that.
Creating a blog is as follows
When starting on the Blogger platform, it all starts with creating a Gmail account. A Gmail account gives you a one-time login across all Google platforms such as Google Business, Google Docs, Blogger, Gmail, Google Play, YouTube, Google Alert, Google Plus and other numerous Google platforms, and I must confess to you I really enjoy this.
Go to Gmail.com and create an account and set up an email client for yourself, enter the necessary information and you are good to go.
After doing this,
Go to Blogger.com and set up a profile, you might be prompted confirm your Google profile you can go along with this to get started.
The next thing to do now is to create your website address. However, this tutorial is on creating a Self-hosted blog this means that you blog address will be “Yoursitename.blogspot.com”. I am aware that most people might want a Yoursitename.com, nevertheless getting familiar with your dashboard on a free platform will help you a great deal before migrating to a hosted platform.
Choose a Blog Title
Choose a Blog URL, choose your most preferred URL
I always suggest to people to choose a name that is mostly related with what your website is all about, this will go a long way in Search Engine Optimization of your Blog. For instance, if you blog about making money online let your blog address be “makemoneyonline.com” or “makemoneyonline.wordpress.com”. I will be talking more on this later on.
Select a Template,
Then you have just created your blog site.
After doing this you will have something like this, which is you Dashboard and also referred to as the “Back-end”
